Hair : With jealous hearts that start with gloss & curls . . .

Hair , it can be the bane of your existence or the envy of others and the desire to have a glossy healthy mane almost over rules all else in my eyes . I know I want my hair shiny , healthy and naturally gorgeous . I am not one for overly processed colour nor do I deviate away from my natural tones too insanely . Those days are done . I know what suits me and it’s the warmer golds , Cali blondes , amber and honey hues . So that is where I stay . Happily in unison with my skin tone .

Like you all can concur , I have tried a million and one hair products . From ghastly cheap to devastatingly expensive the results have varied . Chemical sh*t storms to natural concoctions that make the hair squeak & frizz like nobody’s business . In line with my chemical free grooming this has been some quest to find a hair system that ticks the boxes .

But hold the phone , I think I have found the holy grail . The one . An actual product that isn’t all talk & no action but actually in fact has improved my hairs health over the last couple of months . . .

I went and saw the very lovely Emma from Vertu hair in Napier who kindly handed me a bunch of Organic Colour Systems products after doing what Organic Colour Systems call ‘ the strand test ‘ . This determines what state your hair is in and what direction of product you should be using . It would appear that my hair was pretty damaged through the top half so the Power Build was for me . Promising strength , protection & volume for extremely damaged hair . I was entering my hair health journey . . .

That was in June and fast forward to now . Exactly two months later . My hair is notably shinier . Like when you were a kid shinier not loaded with silicon product shinier . Far less knots almost none . My hair feels softer and it feels thicker & healthier . I am so impressed .

Admittedly this has been a commitment & one must be prepared to the health of their hair . I am a little no fuss with my hair when it comes to styling but completely obsessed with maintenance in the the way of treatment and post care .

My weekly hair routine two to three times weekly looks a little something like this ;

Power Build Shampoo made with certified organic ingredients just like all of the OCS products . Lather on and then repeat . This shampoo is designed to be left one the hair for five minutes in the second wash . Amazingly you can feel your hair soften and it’s like it is actually adding moisture into your hair .

Next enter the Power Build Revamp . This is like a restorative treatment made with quinoa and wheat proteins . You spray enough into the hair to create a foam and then I comb it through to distribute the product evenly . This doesn’t make the hair feel or silky smooth but I know it’s working it’s magic . Leave for fifteen minutes . Turn off the shower and hit a body scrub .

After the Power Build Revamp is rinsed I then use the Power Build Conditioner which has all sorts of hair loving ingredients like organic sunflower seed oil , aloe leaf juice , jojoba the list goes on . Comb through again and leave for five minutes . Face exfoliation time . . . I can feel the product absorb into my hair and my hair rinses softly .

Last but not least my favourite product the Power Build Treatment which a liken to a hair masque . It is a rich buttery consistency that again repairs , strengthens to reduce damage to the hair & split ends and like the rest of it’s friends it helps with colour retention . I comb this dreamy treatment through and wait fifteen minutes or mostly I clean the shower .

I feel fully pampered after the use of these lovely products and they smell gorgeous . Think green apple , citrus with notes of green tea . Fresh & addictive !!

I do use the Tangle Teezer to brush my hair both wet & dry as it is very gentle on my hair which means I suffer less breakage . These are also available from Vertu .

For after care , I have been using Aqua Boost Leave In Conditioner . I haven’t used a cream product in my hair for a number of years now due to the influx of hair oils that hit the market but this is just gorgeous . Again it smells divine and offers shine & manageability . Adding in moisture to my locks also .

In between shampoos I have been using the amazing Dry Shampoo in this range also . It is a very fine powder that doesn’t leave the hair grey – bonus . It has array of oil absorbing ingredients from rice hull powder to tapioca & white clay . The fresh lavender & mint scent makes you wish for another hair wash free day . The trick is to spray or rather puff the powder directly onto the hair roots and leave for one minute before massaging into your scalp . It does not leave residue like other products but gives a good lift and makes my hair look presentable again .

I love these products , absolutely adore them . To the point where I do not know what I would do if they were to suddenly disappear . I am hooked . They are natural with certified organic ingredients plus cruelty free and they work . . . Dream come true .

Emma & Laura in Napier entered the Organic Colour Systems competition in New Zealand a couple or months so ago & last week they found out that they placed 2nd & 3rd with their entries !! I was lucky enough to style this amazing photoshoot & their gorgeous models with holi to make their entries completely organic from top to toe . Emma & Laura used the OCS for the colour & treatments and did an absolutely outstanding job .
